Hi Íbero students! We hope you're surviving the heat....
Here are our suggestions for this week. Hopefully you like them!
Monday, January 25:
Tuesday, January 26: there will be one of our tried-and-true activities: an asado (Argentine barbeque) at the Art Factory Hostel. Go to Piedras 545 at 8:30 pm for grilled beef of all sorts, choripán (chorizo sandwiches), drinks and conversation with other visitors to Buenos Aires. A good chance to get to know other Íbero students outside the classroom! Bring AR $35 to cover the cost of your food and drinks, and don’t forget to RSVP with Callie in the Íbero office so we can give Art Factory a rough idea of how many people to expect.
Wednesday, January 27: Dinner at El Sanjuanino--a restaurant where you can get a taste of traditional Argentine food. This means freshly baked empanadas, locro, tamales, matambre...and of course wine and traditional desserts like flan with dulce de leche. El Sanjuanino is open from 7 pm to 1 am. Dinner and drinks should cost about 30 pesos.
Address: Posadas 1515 (Posadas and Callao)
Thursday, January 28: there will be a live music event at 9 pm at the Art Factory Hostel (Piedras 545). Kick off the weekend with a taste of the local music scene. Don’t forget to mention that you’re an Íbero student. See you there!
Friday, January 29: Go to Bar Las Violetas after class. This is a traditional bar, restaurant and café on the corner of Rivadavia and Medrano. Founded in 1884, it has been recognized as one of the restaurants that best represents Buenos Aires. Las Violetas is located at Rivadavia 3899 and is open all day.
Saturday, January 30: We recommend another classic bar and restaurant, this one in the traditional neighborhood of San Telmo. Bar Sur, on the corner of Estados Unidos and Balcarce, features a traditional tango show, musicians, dancers and singers. Address: Estados Unidos 299. Open all day, but the entertainment runs from 8 pm to 2 am.
