Hi Íbero students! Hope the start of 2010 is going well for everyone. It is for us—we’re definitely back in the swing of things with tons of new students. And a full week of activities. Here’s what’s going on this week:
Monday, January 11: We’ll be showing an Argentine comedy at 2 pm in the Cine room, here at the school. “No sos vos, soy yo.” It’s free!
Tuesday, January 12: There will be an asado at the Art Factory Hostel. Go to Piedras 545 at 8:30 pm for grilled beef of all sorts, choripán (chorizo sandwiches), drinks and conversation with other visitors to Buenos Aires. A good chance to get to know other Íbero students outside the classroom! Bring AR $35 to cover the cost of your food and drinks, and don’t forget to RSVP with Callie in the Íbero office so we can give Art Factory a rough idea of how many people to expect.
Wednesday, January 13: We suggest dinner at Las Cuartetas, a classic Buenos Aires pizzeria. Amazing pizza and empanadas! Address: Corrientes 838. Dinner and drinks will cost about 40 pesos.
Thursday, January 14: We recommend a live music show at the Art Factory Hostel—see some local bands perform! Art Factory is on Piedras 545, and the show starts at 9 pm. Don’t forget to mention you’re an Íbero student, and RSVP with Callie in the office so they know roughly how many people to expect.
Friday, January 15: Finish off the week with a trip to the Centro Cultural Recoleta. Address: Junín 1930. Cost: Free! Open from 10 am to 9 pm. Here you can find art exhibits, concerts and various other events—check out the website to see what’s going on.
Saturday, January 16: We suggest a visit to the Casa Rosada! This historic building is probably the best known in the country. A museum dedicated to the Argentine government and its former presidents is inside. It’s free and open from 10 am to 5 pm. Address: Balcarce 50.
