Hi Íbero students!
Here are the activities for the first week of January (right after break). Hope to have you join us!
Are you familiar with Argentine cinema? Monday, January 4, we will be showing Luna de Avellaneda, a movie filmed in Buenos Aires, here at Íbero. For free! Come to aula Cine at 2 pm.

Tuesday, January 5, there will be the weekly asado at the Art Factory. Go to Piedras 545 at 8:30 pm for grilled beef of all sorts, choripán (chorizo sandwiches), drinks and conversation with other visitors to Buenos Aires. A good chance to get to know other Íbero students outside the classroom! Bring AR $35 to cover the cost of your food and drinks, and don’t forget to RSVP with Callie in the Íbero office so we can give Art Factory a rough idea of how many people to expect.

Wednesday, January 6, we suggest a trip to El Cuartito, a pizzeria on Talcahuano 937. Open since 1934, this restaurant is a Buenos Aires classic and well worth the trip for wonderful pizza and empanadas. Open starting at noon. Don’t forget your cash, because they don’t take credit cards.

Thursday, January 7, we suggest another Buenos Aires must-see: Café Tortoni, arguably the most famous café in the city. The classic building with its antique wood, stained glass and high ceilings is the perfect place to have coffee and do some people-watching. Open all day. Serves coffee, breakfast, lunch, drinks, dessert, etc. For a preview, here’s the website. Avenida de Mayo 825.

Friday, January 8, we are offering two activities. In the afternoon, we will have a conversation workshop with Carolina at Íbero. This is a chance to chat in Spanish and practice what you’ve learned in class. Aula Cine, free, 2 pm. Later on, we recommend a live music show at the Art Factory Hostel—see some local bands perform! Art Factory is on Piedras 545, and the show starts at 9 pm. Don’t forget to mention you’re an Íbero student.

Saturday, January 9, we suggest a trip to Barrio Chino. Did you know that Buenos Aires has a Chinatown? Go to the intersection of Juramento and Arribeños—or take the train (get on the Ramal Mitre) from Retiro to Estación Belgrano—and wander the shops and restaurants for an afternoon. Let us know what you think!

Stay tuned for upcoming activities and Íbero news!
